Round Square is a world-wide association Founded in 1966. Round Square maintains and facilitates a worldwide network of 160 schools in 40 countries representing a student capacity in the region of 90,000 and a teacher/management workforce of around 7,500.
Those schools share a holistic approach to learning built around six IDEALS of learning.
Membership of the Round Square network offers schools a framework for excellence and continuous improvement, along with structured opportunities to collaborate and share experiences with like-minded peers around the world. Round Square is a not for profit membership network, registered as a charity in the UK and governed by a Board under the Presidency of His Majesty King Constantine. Round Square is based on the theories of experiential educational philosopher Kurt Hahn. Dr. Hahn believed that schools should have a greater purpose beyond preparing students for college and university. Both schools committed to equipping youth for leadership and service in a democracy by helping them to prepare for life despite hardships, dangers, and emotion of the moment.
Round Square schools share a passion for experiential learning. Together we work hard to ensure that our pupils have every opportunity to achieve in ways and to levels beyond their perceived limits. We also believe that in order to prepare for adult life, young people must be encouraged to discover and embrace the similarities and differences between cultures and nationalities in ways that promote meaningful and lasting understanding, tolerance and respect.
The Round Square approach doesn't focus on what is taught but rather how learning takes place. It recognizes that learning is most effective when it is practical, cross-cultural and collaborative, and when it is infused through a broad spectrum of inter, extra and co-curricular activities.
In joining the Round Square Network, member schools make a commitment to embedding our shared IDEALS throughout every learning activity within the school. The Sanskaar Valley School became a member of this prestigious organization in 2009 and hosted the Round Square International Conference in 2014. Students of Grade 5 and above attend conferences, and the senior students participate in service projects and exchange programmes. Besides, opportunities to participate in MUN conferences and other competitions of quizzing and debating etc are also available through this organization.
