Meet the Author – An Inspiring Interaction

Date of Upload: 2026-03-10

“Reading opens minds, and writing gives our ideas a voice.”

Students of Prangan Grades 4 and 5 had an engaging interaction with children’s author Shyamala Shanmugasundaram, who has written over 40 books and actively promotes Indian children’s literature through her platform Kahani Takbak.

During the session, she introduced her book “Leela Lights the Way,” a story based on the real-life electrification of Elephanta Island near Mumbai. Through the story, she highlighted how curiosity and the courage to question can bring meaningful change.

She encouraged students to ask questions using “What, Why, When, Where, and How,” explaining that curiosity is the starting point of discovery and storytelling. The author also spoke about observing the world through our five senses, helping students understand how writers gather ideas from everyday life.

The interactive session inspired students to read more, think deeply, and believe that with curiosity and imagination, anyone can become a storyteller.
