Debate competitions are an excellent platform for students to showcase their critical thinking, public speaking, and analytical skills. Such competitions are not only important for a student’s academic growth but also play a significant role in their personal development. They help to boost their confidence and provide them with an opportunity to express their opinions and ideas in a structured and organized manner.
The Sanskaar Debate Competition was held last week on 18thSeptember, 2024 in the Umang Hall. The judges included esteemed members of the Sanskaar academic community MS Anju Malviya and Ms Bhavana Singh. The participants were judged based on the content, relevance to the topic, fluency of language, oratory skills and answering the rebuttal.
The Sanskaar English Debate saw the participation of 12 debaters from classes IX - XII (Shikhar) in two categories.
The Topic for the Junior Category comprising classes 9 & 10 was:
Category A: This House believes that Freedom of speech should be absolute.
And for the Senior Category classes 11 & 12 the topic was:
Category B: This House believes that in the modern day, with knowledge easily accessible online Mandatory school attendance should no longer be essential for Education.
The participants were well-prepared and presented their arguments with conviction and clarity. The judges were impressed with the performances and had a tough time selecting the winners. The audience was also captivated by the debates and cheered on their favourite participants.
In conclusion, Sanskaar Debate Competition was a huge success, and it showcased the intellectual prowess and eloquence of the young minds of our school . The participants displayed remarkable confidence and maturity, and the judges were highly impressed with their performances. The competition was a testament to the importance of critical thinking and effective communication skills, and we look forward to more such events in the future.
The event was a great success and taught the participants as well as the audience that words are free, but it is how you use them that will cost you or win you acclaim.
