Ayushi Dhawan an Environmental Historian from Azim Premji University with interests in the movement of hazardous waste trade from the Global North to the Global South, scrap recycling, and environmental activism in India held a session with grades 11H, 12H and the history students of 10IG and 9IG. Her topic was ‘ History through the lens of the environment.’ The session was informative and interdisciplinary in nature. The economics behind Gujarat’s Ship Breaking Yard Alang was connected to the colonial past of Asia. The religious practise of giving hair to the deity was explained through the business behind it particularly in places like Varanasi. As an Environmental History Scholar she is committed to addressing present-day issues through the lens of the environment.
