The 1920s was a decade of profound social changes. The most obvious signs of change were the rise of a consumer-oriented economy and of mass entertainment. On the contrary India was struggling with its colonial position. Our British Indian soldiers had returned unsung after fighting the First World War for their colonial masters. Gandhi had arrived under the Non-Cooperation movement and took it forward passionately alongside efforts of various literary experts and socio religious reformers voicing for the same cause. Students discussed the essence of the period for both the West and India.
