Grade 4 students were recently introduced to the topic- Dates and Timelines in Chapter 4-Calendars and Timelines. To strengthen their understanding, a Timeline Race activity was conducted.
Students were divided into teams, each consisting of 7-8 participants. Each team was provided with placards representing significant years spanning from BCE to CE periods. The timeline, painted on the floor, served as the visual representation of historical chronology. Once they got the placards, they discussed and quickly arranged themselves in correct sequence on the timeline.
The objective of the timeline sorting activity was to familiarize children with the concept of BCE (Before Common Era) and CE (Common Era) in history, and to enhance their understanding of chronological order through interactive participation.
