Project ISA: Constructing Links Between History & Geography

An ISA session was conducted for the students of Shikhar by Ms. Mahua Chatterjee and Mr. Somnath Ganguly linking the roots of various civilizations with rivers. This session highlighted the pragmatic reasons resulting in civilizations developing around rivers. The session also charted a comparison between the course of Nile river and Indus river and its tributaries. Tracing the transition from nomadic to settled lifestyle, the session also analysed economic progress and growth in trade for the Indus Valley civilisation. The significance of conserving rivers was emphasized as the depletion of the water bodies was the major reason for the extinction of the river valley civilizations.
