“Mathematics is the art of giving same name to different things”

Mathematics and art are related in a variety of ways. Mathematics has itself been described as an art motivated by beauty. Mathematics and art have a long historical relationship. Artists have used mathematics since the 4th century BC. Math is a unifying principle and art is infinite in its potential to create forms and shapes.

Keeping this in mind as a part of the Math Week, an event named as “MATHARTIST” was conducted on 4th July 2017 for all Sopaan students and teachers In this is abstract painting competition, all students and teachers participated and brought out their ideas, creativity and imagination on the paper using geometrical shapes and figures like square, circle, triangle, hexagon, octagon etc.

During the competition, the atmosphere of the venue was pepped up with peppy Math rap songs to boost the morale of the great Sopaanian Math artists who were giving wings to their imaginations.

To be creative means to be in love with life and enhance its beauty. Transformation of this quality into visual expressions by the budding artists weaving brush strokes of math’s was the main aim of this endeavor. The main thrust was towards stirring the imagination and providing a pedestal for innovation, exploration and aesthetics. The young participants spun magic which pulled the strings in the heart, mind and soul unleashing the forces within.

Students proved that they not only excel in academics, but also shine in exhibiting their skills by their creative presentation.

They did a lot of research on the topic and came out with a lot of interesting ideas. They made colorful paintings . The event was a great learning experience for the students as well as the teachers .

Overall, the competition was a great success.
