Guiding Grade 8 Students Towards Informed Academic Choices

Date of Upload: 2026-01-29

The Career Counselling Cell, Samcara, conducted an insightful orientation session for the students of Grade 8 with the objective of guiding them towards informed academic decision-making. As students at this stage stand at an important academic crossroads, the session aimed to create awareness about the significance of making well-thought-out subject choices aligned with their interests, aptitude, and future aspirations.

The session focused on helping students understand the relevance of core academic disciplines and the role they play in shaping higher studies and career pathways. Emphasis was laid on the importance of self-awareness, understanding one’s strengths, and evaluating long-term goals before arriving at any academic decision. Students were encouraged to reflect on their interests and abilities rather than being influenced by peer pressure or misconceptions.

The counsellors also highlighted how informed choices made at this stage can prevent future regret and ensure a smoother academic journey ahead. Through interactive discussions and real-life examples, students were guided to think critically about their decisions and take ownership of their academic planning.

The session proved to be highly beneficial, equipping students with clarity and confidence to make responsible and informed choices.
